The ID. Buzz employs Volkswagen’s latest battery tech and charging infrastructure. It features a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which VW says has an excellent efficiency of over 90 percent in nearly all driving conditions.

Classic VW buses are highly revered as one of the ultimate road trip vehicles, and Volkswagen knew that they had to live up to that legacy with the new EV bus. That’s why they designed the ID. Buzz with a 91-kWh battery that’s capable of industry-leading charging speeds. With this battery pack, it can go from 10% to 80% state of charge in just 26 minutes, so you can spend more time getting where you want to go.

It also has a terrific electric range for an EV of its size. Rear-wheel drive ID. Buzz models have an estimated range of 234 miles, while ID. Buzz with 4Motion all-wheel drive have an estimated range of 231 miles.

The electric bus comes standard with single-motor rear-wheel drive. This setup produces 282 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque and has a towing capacity of 2,600 pounds. When optioned with 4Motion AWD, that figure jumps up to a robust 335 horsepower and 3,500 pounds of max towing, thanks to the additional electric motor at the front axle.

Other features that improve range and performance include two regenerative braking settings and Driving Mode Selection, with Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Custom modes. AWD models also have a Traction mode that aids in driving on slick surfaces.

VW ID. Buzz Interior and Dimensions

One of the most exciting features of the ID. Buzz is its versatile interior, which can be customized on the fly for any adventure.

It has a seating capacity of up to seven when outfitted with the second-row bench seats, and there’s also an available six-passenger setup with second-row captain’s chairs. The standard third row is also completely removeable, allowing you to maximize cargo capacity in seconds.

The flexibility of the interior is further increased by the standard Buzz Box center console, which has numerous storage options and can be completely removed or moved between the captain’s chairs to cater to second-row passengers. The modular interior design approach makes the ID. Buzz one of the most adaptable vehicles on the road.
